As we share our dreams for the future, we remember that we are the future of the United States. It is not lost on us that today, June 16th, is the day that the state of New Jersey has selected to observe as Juneteenth, the day that the last of the enslaved people in the United States were liberated from Galveston Bay, Texas. This is a dream that has been shared by many people throughout American History-people of different races, religions, genders, sexual orientations, and walks of life. A dream that one day the people of the United States would be free. This fight for independence was motivated by one thing-a dream. “In ‘Washington Monument by Night'… Sandburg recalls the battle at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War. The graduating class’s quote this year was “Nothing happens unless first a dream” by Carl Sandburg.
